Protect Owner's Data from "theft" by Blocking Data Exports... Read On!
Data theft can severely cripple a business owner in a DOZEN nasty ways. A departing salesman can walk out the door with years of customer data. "His Customers - yes", BUT STILL this is the companies contractually protected data through pre-employment NDA's and Non-Compete contracts. Another example: An office manager has access to all current files. If this employee becomes disgruntled an export of all Company Owned files is way to easy too steal.
SIMPLE FIX: Give the Admin. the option of Block Data Exports in the "Let me choose permissions" in the Admin Console.
This keeps the honest people... honest.
Sure there are ways for the dishonest to capture data, like a screen shot - which may be "Maliciousness Intent" depending on your companies employment agreement, NDA, Non-Compete, Policy Manual, etc.
Job Nimbus owes it to the owners of this software "To Block" this "free for all" export feature.
Make it available as an allowable permission, but, the default needs to be Blocked.
In closing, here is a question to the business owners. How many of your past and current staff, outside sales, etc. worked for a Competing Company before they came under your employment?
How many of these people working for you now ARE IN BREACH of Past Employers NDA's and Non Compete Agreements?
If YOU worked for someone and you had a chance to export sensitive data "as leverage" in case you were treated unfairly by them.... would your "left brain", the Preservation - Fight or Flight wiring in your left frontal lobe - rationalize this behavior ?
Some Would, Some Wouldn't - I don't want to make a guess who might do this.
As a Business Owner, I WANT IT BLOCKED FOR ALL, unless I choose otherwise.
