Enhanced Customization for Roofing Estimate Reports: Background Images & Legacy Templates
It would be highly beneficial for JobNimbus to allow users to upload custom PDF pages or background images for each section of an estimate report (such as Inspection, Terms and Conditions, Comparison Page, etc.) while retaining full field functionality. The goal is to streamline the customization process without sacrificing the dynamic capabilities (e.g., entering inspection data, displaying comparison info) that exist in JobNimbus’s native report templates.
🔧 Current Pain Points:
- Uploading custom-designed PDFs (e.g. from Canva) is possible but does not allow field integration, so every customer version must be manually updated in a design tool, exported as a PDF, and re-uploaded — which is time-consuming and inefficient.
- The JobNimbus x Canva templates, while nicely designed, offer no dynamic editing once uploaded. You can't insert live inspection data or text over these templates like you can with the default pages.
- There's no option to use uploaded custom pages as "template backgrounds" while maintaining the ability to overlay editable JobNimbus fields (e.g., customer name, inspection notes, photo inserts, etc).
✅ Suggested Improvements:
- Allow users to upload a PDF or image to serve as a "background layer" for individual report sections.
- Enable JobNimbus form fields and content blocks (text, image, table) to be placed on top of these background templates, like a modern report editor.
- Add the ability to save these custom layouts as reusable legacy templates (e.g., custom Inspection Page, Comparison Page, or Terms and Conditions layout).
- Improve the Canva integration by enabling editable fields and dynamic data to remain functional after uploading a Custom Sales PDF designed template.
In the attached screenshots, we have the boring Inspection Report page that comes as default. However, that page does have the nice helpful layout of adding images and text. When I opened the Job Nimbus x Canva templates to affect that same template and save the PDF to upload to Sales PDF Reports - there is nothing else that can be done with that template as far as manual input of customer information, it's just a background graphic in a report.
