Gantt Chart / Scheduling Dependencies
Allow scheduling though gantt charts and/or dependencies.
Calendar needs to have dependencies. We have 41 team members and doing 1,000's of jobs per year. When we get them all on the schedule then have a delay for any reason we have to manually move each and every job. Its getting near impossible to continue doing this that way. They need to be able to have dependencies so when one job moves a day then all the jobs scheduled after that move a day. Reference to "smartsheets".
Ex. I assign the foreman jobs as they come in. That foreman looses 2 days for rain delay now the next 10 jobs behind this one are pushed back 2 days. Dependencies tied to Job Foremen is key to this NOT type of job as we have multiple foremen.

Things right now are split between contacts and jobs. If you added a "trades" section that ties into the parent job, that ties into the parent contact, that would be ideal. A person calls, we add them as a client. We create a job to provide an estimate for what the client is looking for, and for the sales team to see where that lead goes. At some point the estimate is approved and "trades" are created. If the estimate was for roofing, siding, windows, and gutters then four trades are created for the production team to follow. The production team would also have the ability to create a gantt chart. A single job could have multiple trades to track and follow. Accounting can be done for each trade so that we can apply invoices received for that trade. Once all trades are completed, they are all set back into the job with the ability to see the overall job costs plus costs per trade. During the job each trade would have its own number so that you could purchase material for that trade specifically. Those trade numbers would be connected to the job number (or PO number). This way sales can follow leads and jobs, production can follow jobs and trades, and accounting can see overall job costs and trade costs.

Yes I Agree, The scheduling feature must improve because if there is 5 jobs for one project, we should be able to move all the jobs simultaneously when there is delay.

This would be so helpful. If the calendar and project management features were more advanced it would be on its way to a one stop solution...

This is a feature that jobnimbus desperately needs. Gantt charts.

In order to effectively (and visually) map project timelines and statuses, the incorporation of gantt charts would be helpful.

Without Task Dependencies it is difficult to look forward and get and idea of what and when tasks are scheduled. Keeping tracking of multiple jobs with may sequential tasks is all but impossible without task dependencies.
Each task would typically have a duration and a dependency connection to the previous task (or tasks). Usually the next task starts as soon as it's predecessor is complete, but one can slide it out and needed for rescheduling. All subsequent tasks would automatically move.
The start and stop date for a job, could be manually specified, but normally it is the start date of the first task and the calculated completion date of the last task that determines Job beginning and end times. Move a task and Job dates move as needed.

I had experience with Wrike and one of the really nice features was the time based display. Besides being able to visualize all the pieces of a job, you could interactively move tasks around to affect start and stop dates or open a task for editing.

An idea to implement this would be to have the ability to "LINK" the calendar items that are dependent of each other that way when we have a delay we can drag that work order out an extra day or two and the linked workers that follow will also move automatically.

Couldn't agree more. Non-dependent calendar entries and no team calendar were two reasons I objected to using JN, but was overruled at the time. Now suddenly it's importance has resurfaced as I predicted. Please get this implemented asap.

After contact is made allow for automated emails to be sent for follow ups or status updates

Need to have all sold projects display in a gant chart so we can schedule start dates and let customers know how far out we are.

It would be good if there was a job view of tasks shown in a Gantt Chart form so that allocated and unallocated tasks were shown on a time line as this would clearly show what is happing on a job and when. If you could filter the view by type of task then this would be even more powerful. If the percentage complete of the tasks were also filled in on the bars this would act like a progress report on the job which would be really useful.
