The Client-Ready PDF Makeover
I’ve got another suggestion for the Form Builder, but this one is all about the design and layout of the PDFs we’re generating. Right now, the data is all there, but the presentation feels a bit "all over the place," and frankly, sometimes it’s a little embarrassing to send to a homeowner.
The Request: Can we get a cleaner, more standardized layout for Form PDFs? Specifically, we need the "Photo" sections to stop shifting or shrinking when we add more images.
The Problem (The "Layout Glitch"):
Right now, if a sales rep fills out a form and only adds one photo, the layout stays okay. But as soon as they upload 3 or 4 photos into a single field, that entire section seems to "shrink down" or distort to fit them all in a weird way, while the rest of the text fields stay the same size.
It ends up looking like a messy collage rather than a professional inspection report.
Real-Life Scenario:
My sales rep is sitting at a kitchen table with a homeowner who is about to drop $20k on a new roof. He pulls up the "Inspection PDF" to show them the damage. Because the photos have shrunk down and the text is wrapping weirdly around them, the homeowner is squinting at the screen, and the whole document just looks "glitchy."
In that moment, we don't look like a high-end contractor; we look like we’re using outdated software. We want to be able to hit "Share" and feel confident that the document looks as sharp and professional as our actual craftsmanship.
The Dream Scenario:
Clean Grids: Photo fields should automatically snap into a clean, uniform grid (like a 2x2 or 3x3 layout) that doesn’t change the font size or scaling of the rest of the form.
Consistent Padding: Everything should feel aligned. If I have a text box next to a photo, they should line up perfectly every time.
"Homeowner Mode": Maybe even a simple toggle to "Hide Empty Fields" so the homeowner doesn't see a bunch of blank "N/A" sections, just the important stuff.
Why it matters:
At the end of the day, these forms are our marketing materials once they hit a customer's inbox. If the PDF looks clean, the customer trusts us more. If it looks messy, it’s just another hurdle for my sales reps to climb over.
Thanks for hearing me out!
