This would be great feature to merge multiple contacts. I just synced quick-books and now I have duplicate contacts.

A merge feature would be super helpful. The best merge feature lets the user choose which value for each field to keep. For example -- Person1 --Joe smith, jsmithxx@email.com, 123 pine Lane
and Person 2 -- Joseph smith, jsmith123@email.com , 123 pine Ln.
You could choose the name and email from person 1 and the address from person 2.

When there are syncing issues with Jobnimbus and Quickbooks duplicate contacts can be created

I would be highly in favor of a merge contacts option. Merge jobs, products, etc would be helpful also.

Is there a way to merge contacts that were made due to the following examples;
Dave Smith & David Smith have become 2 contacts but are the same person.
Mike Jones & Michael Jones have become 2 contacts but are the same person.

A feature to be able to merge the contacts would allow for a cleaner record keeping and allow better syncing with quickbooks.

This is should be done by now!!! your response below 2013!!!!!! its been 5 years every major software has a merge feature.

Currently we do not have the ability to merge contact records, but I made sure this was in our development queue and will update as we make progress.

Gets my vote. Our biggest culprit for dup contacts is from other systems creating dups (like our canvassing app creates a dup contact in Nimbus). Sometimes we miss it and there is activity and documents created for BOTH contacts... so being able to merge the activity and documents... work orders, estimates... etc, would be a huge help!

I constantly have contacts that are being entered, that have already been entered. I believe it is because the guys in the filed are creating them via the mobile app, and do it on the fly, and then start uploading pictures while in the filed. Later, in the office, I realize that they either duplicated a job, or they duplicated a contact & a Job, and often there is attachments in both locations, and it is a huge pain to download all attachments, delete one of the contacts, then go to the other one, and upload all the attachments that were in the other one.

Also, the duplicate contact checker built into the web does have a problem where it doesn't want to allow duplicate contacts even if the contact type is different. This causes problems when we do work with a company where sometimes we are subcontractor and sometimes they are our subcontractor depending upon the job type.

I've had to use the work around of entering a nickname in the last name spot differentiating the contacts from each other to make the duplicate contact checker allow it to be processed. It has been frustrating... especially because some of my co-workers are not so software savvy so trying to explain when and when not to do this is making JN more stressful to use.

Complex systems of contacts means sometimes nicknames can be used which make contact slightly different which then causes a duplicate. Seeing a merge contact button with a setting to have the option for admin only to use would be very helpful.

The contact checker is a really nice feature. I guess the more helpful option than a "merge" would be to have the related contacts linked to where if you update the status of one... it updates the other automatically. A lot of times, we have someone contact us for an estimate that is not the person needing the work. Correspondence, attachments, and other info are still useful for the person that reached out to us originally, but we end up having to create a new contact for the person we are working for then link the two together. you then have to manually update both contacts as you move through the pipeline.
Hopefully that makes sense.

I would like a way to merge contacts also as this seems to be a problem I've encountered numerous times, specifically when notes and calls have been made in both contacts.

To be precise, I am voting that JobNimbus create a feature in which contacts can be merged in such a way that the integrity of the information combines in chronological order while eliminating the newest created contact number. (Example: If i created a contact, we'll say #1087, and later someone created the same contact as file #2134 I could merge all the information into one contact, #1087, while keeping all the data from both contacts in the original file; only the file number, in this case #2134, and duplication of basic information would be discarded - exactly how you'd do it if it were a numbered paper file.)

Not just link by contact, but actually a merge feature, that would enable us to bring a job created outside of a contact into that contact's job tab. Also the ability to merge when contacts have been created with multiple addresses, it would be useful to be able to merge them into one contact, with a secondary or mailing address option.

Occasionally, the same job is created twice (maybe once in the office and once by a salesperson) . Once notes/activity are added I hesitate to delete either one. It would be nice if there was a way to merge the two and know all the information was together in one. place.

I voted with 3 since there are 4 people in the office that feel this would be an important feature to have.
