Tasks in Automation
• Completing a task should automatically change the status on contacts/jobs with automation.
• Should be able to get notifications when tasks are completed, created, postponed, etc.

That seems like a reasonable way to implement the functionality.
My main interest is knowing when it is done so that I can do the next thing that needs to happen. ("D" finished the punch list, so now "A" can send an invoice. Or, "J" added the customer's choice of patio material to the notes and marked the "TBD task" done, so now "S" can order the pavers.
We are using the tasks here as all or nothing "done-ness". We have not been updating the tasks, switching owners, or anything that would particularly need tracking, but I could see that as a feature.

Taking this a step further... Automation in general expanded; triggers off of true/false, certain field in a job or contact has a value etc. If the boolean custom field is yes, then this happens, etc.
