Products & Services Tree - Parent-Child relationships
Should be able to select a product and then select from sub-products or have other choices (size, color, variation), and potentially sub-sub-products underneath them.
This would allow for a lot more flexibility, organization, and speed when creating an estimate or invoice.

Is this in the works? Seems like it should be an easy update.

My First day using JobNimbus and I am surprised that it doesn't already have this function. Looking forward to it. Just tracking color of shingles and also the size of drip edge would be a huge help.

Yes!!! More detailed and freedom when estimating jobs!!! We are a painting company that calculates by square or linear footage. It would be great to be able to break out an entire room cost for different sections of the room (trim, ceilings, doors, windows, closets, etc) but still have it show up as one line item.

I would love the ability to add option lists to an estimate. If a consultant selected Landmark IR shingles, an option list for all available colors would be populated. It would then populate the amount of bundles needed for the squares the consultant inputs. Then, based on the selection of shingles, the ridge and accessories would populate their option lists (based on what can be used with the particular shingles chosen).
Ex: Certainteed Landmark IR shingle -> Shenandoah -> 20 sq = 60 bundles
-> Ridge: Certainteed XT30 IR -> 132LF = 4 bundles
So on and so forth -

We would like to be able to populate a drop down list of materials regularly used as well as a drop down box to choose color we could self populate. This would help in a couple of areas. Consistency with reports to eliminate human data error and quicker in setting up a new job rather then having to data enter manually each material used and color for that type of material.

I third the update request! Our team has been asking for this feature for over a year and would be SO excited to have an idea of when to look forward to seeing implementation.

When entering a new product have the ability to add a color dop-down list just like the UoM list so we could select the color of the product on the proposal and have all the available colors pre-saved. That way we don't need to create a separate product for each color.

Sub Categories in estimates for assemblies.
The current estimating setup for JN is perfect for those roofers that use only a per square price which is basically subs only. Most roofing contractors need to estimate the specific parts and pieces related to the roof system being estimated. In some cases, the roof project will encompass (2) different roof systems (i.e. tile and flat roof). There are numerous systems that we install as well as repairs. Each one is different. This has been suggested in the past I believe with "products and services tree". The description can then be the over all scope of work for that assembly that ultimately becomes the proposal to the customer and the work order. The sub items is the actual parts and pieces required which becomes the material order.
Estimate to Customer Proposal to Material Order to Work Order currently do not work seamlessly as it should.
I have seen this in the ideas section listed under a number of headings. (52) votes in some cases. This would indeed separate JN from being just another CRM program. Grinding through and kicking my butt in the meantime.

Any update on this? It has been a year since it was marked planned. Would be helpful to see a rough date range when something like this would be implemented especially when there are 47 votes on it and the idea is 3 years old. Pretty slow for implementing new helpful ideas and have seen quicker implements with other vendors on newer ideas.

When building the work order template, I really was hoping for an option where we could incorporate a drop down of items so the each category will populate only the items pertaining to that section. For example, under the PROFILE section, I'd like to be able to click on the profile where a few different options could come up: 1. 1.5" Snap Lock 2. 1.5" Mechanical Lock. 3. Our other profiles that would go there, but you probably get the idea. I'd like to be able to build every item that way. That way when they click it, they only see a few different options instead of choosing from a list of like 1000 items.

Need to add item sub grouping functionality. Products list becomes a mess with a dump of information. Need to be able to make groups of items to keep it easy to navigate.

Now that we can create item categaories on estimates, invoices, etc. We need to be able to create product categories in the Product & Services section that coordinate with the Item categories on estimates, invoices, ect.
This way when you do an item search from the estimates page you don't have to rely on memory of which items to select.
For example:
Currently if we are selecting 5/8" OSB Radiant Barrier, because it lists everything alphabetical a salesrep would need to scroll through the complete list of items in order to see all of the options. Our current work around when entering Products & Services is to name each item first by category (i.e. SHEATHING: 5/8" Radiant Barrier).
I would be so much easier to have categories within Products & Services and alphabetized by categories for easy selection of items within each category.

The flexibility to have parent/child relationships on items would be very nice, and would take the functionality to the next level.

Having to scroll thru all of the products and services to find exactly what you need requires everyone to memorize exactly how it was entered into JN. The ability to add categories for these items will not only allow provide easy line item selection but will also allow templates to be created for certain jobs.
For example, we do roofing. No 2 jobs are exactly the same but almost every single job uses the same type of components: Shingles, Underlayment, Sheathing, Ventilation, etc.
If we can create a template with the Categories in it where a salesperson simply has to select what product is being used on a particular job would make this CRM head and shoulders above the rest!

We have a line item for GAF Timberline HD Shingles. It would be nice if, once we have added that line item to a Material Order Form, JN had a drop down box to select the color. We need this for many types of shingles, caps, ridge vent, etc.
