Text Message (SMS) Notifications
Many other CRMs and Project Mgmt software have the ability to choose SMS text messages as a form of delivery. This allows those in the field to get the message instantly without having to log into the mobile app or their email.
Update: Mobile 2.0 allows you to send text messages on a job or contact and captures those messages inside JobNimbus as a note. This can help to achieve similar results, though not automated just yet.
You can turn on Push Notifications to get notifications sent right to your smartphone or tablet. It’s better than email for some team members and better than texts since it can go to every device regardless of the SIM card (or lack thereof).
To turn on push notifications for your team members, check out the tutorial on our blog: http://www.jobnimbus.com/blog/2016/03/08/how-to-set-up-and-receive-push-notifications/
These says the companies want to provide best customer support and this is why they now provide the sms support options too because it is the easiest way to connect to the customers. I also have been thinking to get Slack sms for my own business and might go with the one available at very affordable cost at https://www.heymarket.com/slack/.

It would be nice to automate the text feature to the customers when a status change is made!

customers get text instead of email or both
It would be extremely convenient if they had notification alerts pop up on the phone such as text messages do to remind us of the next task that is up! ITS A MUST HAVE!!!!!!!! That way you never forget and get alerts when you have to move onto your new task , it'll pop up as a text message kind of thing!
Text messages are a must have in our business! Please implement ASAP. Thanks!!
This is a great idea. It would also be great to have a Text Message (SMS) Notification go out to our customer in a reminder format a day before or a set amount of time before the meeting.
